Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

Bible Definition is built to respect your privacy. There is no account, no sign‑in, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell your data — there is nothing to sell.

Your study data stays on your device

Your highlights, notes, saved verses, bookmarks, reading plans, reading diary, reminders, and last reading position are stored locally on your device. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them.

Bible text

Two translations (the World English Bible and King James Version) are built in and work fully offline. Other translations are fetched on demand from their providers (such as YouVersion) through our backend and cached on your device so they load quickly next time. We request only the passage you are reading.

Ask AI

When you ask a question, the text of your question (and the passage you are currently reading, if any) is sent through our backend to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate an answer grounded in trusted reference websites. Questions and answers may be cached on our backend temporarily to speed up and reduce the cost of repeated questions. They are not linked to your identity and are never sold or used for advertising. Please don't include sensitive personal information in your questions.

Backups

Local backups are files you create and keep wherever you choose; they never come to us. Optional cloud backup is end‑to‑end encrypted on your device with a private code that only you hold. We store only an unreadable encrypted blob and cannot decrypt it or see its contents. If you lose your code, the backup cannot be recovered — by design.

Videos

Chapter overview and themed videos are streamed from BibleProject only when you choose to play them, subject to BibleProject's own terms. We do not receive your viewing activity.

What we don't collect

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
